P104 Family Portraits Project
Determined to bring smiles to urban-poor families, my office, with the help of 11 dedicated photographers and 25 spunky volunteers, ran a Family Portraits Project in Block 3 Desa Mentari and Desaria. Click here to read more about it.
Free Medical Camp at SS19
With the help of Medical Outreach PJ, YB Hannah Yeoh’s and my office has successfully carried out a free medical camp at the SS19 flats on the 5ht of March 2017. Approximately 142 residents were provided free medical advice and medicine. Click here to find out more.
Free Medical Camp at Desa Mentari
On the 8th of August 2016, my office conducted a free medical camp with the invaluable cooperation of Community Excel Services and medical students from Moscow University. We successfully served a total of 232 residents, providing them free medical consultations and medicine. Click here to read more.
Free Medical Camp at USJ 1 Angsana Flats
On August 9th 2015, my office worked with Community Excel, Word of Life and Save Ones Sight. We served a whopping 360 residents with free medical check up and free medications. Thank you to the doctors, the pharmacists, the medical students and the volunteers. Read more about this project here.
Refurbishment of Tadika Glenmarie
After several weeks of works, we officiated the newly refurbished Glenmarie Tadika with a free medical camp for the children and residents on 7th August 2015. My friend, William Arul is a donor for the kindergarten renovation. The free medical camp was co-organised with Community Excel, Word of Life and Save Ones Sight for the residents of Glenmarie. Desa Mentari Vaccination and Health Carnival
About one week after the Medical Screening Camp at Desa Mentari, our office co-organised a Free Vaccination and Health Carnival with the NGO Parenting 2U. The event attracted a large crowd of 400 persons with free medical checkups, free pneumococcal immunisation jabs for 100 infants and funfair carnival type games. Read more here.
Renovation works at Tadika Desa Ria Complete
On January 26th 2015, our Desaria kindergarten project was officially handed over to Mrs.Thana the head teacher. We also took the opportunity to thank Mr. and Mrs.KK Chong, IJM, Malaysian Volunteers, students from Taylors College and the contractor Kenny Yow for their generous support and contributions. Desa Mentari Medical Camp
On the 25th of January, my office organised a Medical Camp with doctors from PJ Medic. We served a total of 185 senior citizens, adults and children. Our data showed that about 40% of those who were screened were diabetic. Therefore, our action plan is to educate residents to consume less sugar and white rice. Read more here.
Renovations for Tadika in Desa Ria Commence
After months of fundraising, contractors have started work to install ventilator fans, new tiling and plumbing for a Tadika in Desa Ria. Work is set to finish by the end of 2014. Read more here.
Breast Cancer Screening at USJ 1 Masjid Al-Irsyad
Our second installment of a free breast cancer screening program ran by my office in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) was held at the USJ 1 Al-Irsyad Mosque on the 29th of November 2014, primarily for women from the USJ 1 Angsana Flats. We screened close to 100 women and raised awareness with the help of Puan Norlin, a breast cancer survivor from USJ 1. You can read more here.
CSR Initiative to Fix Staircases in Desa Ria
Earlier in February 2014, my office started looking for solutions to the terrible state of staircases in Desa Ria. We raised RM90,000 to fix all 12 staircases. Work was completed on time and within budget. You can read more here.
Students Mobilise Donations for Tabika in Desa Ria
My office adopted the Tabika in Desa Ria for part of our community projects in the area. A lot of work needs to be done, but we will focus on tiling, plumbing and installing extractor fans to reduce the stuffiness in the room. When students in Taylor’s College and Sunway University heard this, they mobilised for collection of donations for this project. You can read more on this here and here.
Deloitte CSR Initiative in Desa Ria and Desa Mentari
On the 29th of August 2014, Deloitte came to the low-cost housing areas in my constituency for a community outreach initiative. They mobilised some 150 persons to clean up the playground and painted staircases. Read more here.
Desa Ria Mobile Health Clinic
On the 10th of August 2014, my office collaborated with the DUMC in organising a Mobile Health Clinic for all residents in Desa Ria. A total of 187 residents were served at the event. Read more here. You can read the Star’s write-up of this initiative here.
New Library for Kindergarten in Desa Ria
On the 4th of August 2014, my interns completed their project in assembling a small library for the Desa Ria kindergarten. The next phase of the project is to tile up the kindergarten and also install ventilator fans. Read more here.
Breast Cancer Screening in Desa Mentari
On the 4th of May 2014, my office organised our first breast cancer screening in Block 4, 5 & 6 of Desa Mentari in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA). The event was very successful with close to 250 women screened by nurses from BCWA. Read more here.
