Happy Independence Day, Malaysia!
Today I attended two Merdeka functions in the morning. The first was at the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association with YB Hannah Yeoh. The SJBA event as usual, is well organised and well attended. They also served some of the nicest ondeh-ondeh. After delivering a speech, I went to PJS10 Seri Setia to hand out prizes for a Merdeka Jogathon event. I arrived just in time and together with the Councillor Halimey, we helped out with a community lucky draw too. PJS 10 Residents Association and Rukun Tetangga are quite active and this is my fourth event with them. Mr Pule and Encik Mansor jointly run the community there. They also happily reported that crime rate has been on a downtrend.
In the same morning, my staff Tim and Gillian went to Sepang with 90 residents (some adults mostly kids) from Desa Mentari for an automobile racing cars exhibition called Summernats. It’s an Australian thing, apparently. My team reports that the kids were all super happy being given VIP seats in Sepang F1 and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The tickets and transportation were courtesy of JPM Motorsport and other Summernats sponsors.
