Welfare Month: Day One (A)

Hallo there! Nadirah here and happy to report that our Welfare Month programme is finally up and running starting today until next Friday. While less than ideal, the upside of having a disjointedly scheduled Welfare Month programme is that it gives an opportunity to the new staff and interns, i.e. Tina, Kay Li, and Sebastian, to obtain first-hand experience and understand how urban poor economics work.

In the meantime, think Wong Chen’s on a holiday at the Pearl of the Orient? Think again, cause he’s actually still (kinda) working. Yesterday, he attended and gave a speech at an INVOKE Malaysia fundraising dinner in Sungai Petani, Kedah. Thankfully, YB Gooi Hsiao Leung managed to drag him out to have a (hopefully) relaxing lunch today.

So while the boss is away till Thursday, the staff and interns will try not to set anything on fire (because I don’t think we can afford to replace anything, really). The office will still be in operation as usual, including later tonight from 8.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.
