Single Mother Gets Help
Last night I posted an appeal on behalf of a single mother in my constituency on my Facebook page.
Ms. Puganeswary desperately needed some money to obtain a pair of spectacles so that she could continue work to support her family. This single mother suffered an eye infection and was advised to wear spectacles by her doctor.
She could not work without those glasses and she wanted very much to start work again by the end of that week. As the sole breadwinner of her family, not being able to work would affect not only her 2 children, ages 7 and 6, but also her elderly parents who she supports.
Just one day after the public appeal, we were able to help resolve Ms. Puganeswary’s situation. We received an overwhelming response from the public and it was very inspiring to see so many reach out to us.
A kind donor who wishes to remain anonymous met Ms. Puganeswary this afternoon at her local optometrist and paid in total for her spectacles. She also kindly offered RM200 to Ms. Puganeswary to spend on her children and paid for her ride home.
Ms. Puganeswary will receive her spectacles by the end of this week and will be able to go back to work on Monday. She will be going to UM next month for an eye checkup.
On behalf of this single mom, thank you to everyone who offered their kind assistance.
